I’m Alexa. I wear a few different hats: Music Journalist, Reporter, Freelance Writer, Content Developer, English Teacher, Journalism graduate, part-time French speaker, traveler and lifelong learner.

Currently, I’m working as a Marketing Content Writer and also as a freelance writer, independently. Head to my writing page to see some of my work. Contact me if you’re interested in hiring me for a freelance project.

I recently returned from Paris, France where I worked as Asbury University’s Paris Semester Program Assistant. Prior to that I spent eight months teaching English in Hyères, France under the French Ministry of Education. My other recent credits include working at The Indianapolis Star as both a Pulliam Fellow Reporter and freelancer.

I graduated from Asbury University in May 2016. Here, I studied Journalism & Digital Storytelling and minored in French & Public Relations.

Raised in the heart of the Hoosier state, I grew up constantly lip-syncing Britney Spears’ songs and hoping to one day move to Los Angeles to become a Disney Channel actress. My love for pop culture led me to write fake TV episodes of my favorite Disney shows like “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” for fun. I also pretended to host a talk show, which I named “The Alexa Show,” in our living room.

As I went through high school and college, my passion changed from creating & performing stories to telling the real stories of the world. But my underlying motivation to create stayed the same.

To me, journalism is all about conversation, from the interviewing process to the capturing of a photograph to the printing of a story. Each piece of media that I create stems from a conversation. My hope is to preserve these conversations, memories and personal stories in my work.

I love the creative process. I love a good conversation. And boy, do I love a good story.

So please, grab a cup of steaming hot tea, make yourself at home, put on some soothing tunes and take a look at the stories and media work featured here on my website. I hope I can inspire you in some way.
