Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the inter-webs.

I’m Alexa. I wear a few different hats: Music Journalist, Reporter, Freelance Writer, Content Developer, YouTube Creator, English Teacher, Journalism graduate, part-time French speaker, traveler and lifelong learner.

I recently returned from eight months living and teaching English in France under the French Ministry of Education. Prior to that I worked at The Indianapolis Star as a Pulliam Fellow Reporter after graduating from Asbury University in May 2016.

During my time at Asbury, I studied Journalism & Digital Storytelling and minored in French & Public Relations. Currently, I’m working with Firebelly Marketing as a Content Writer and also as a freelance writer, independently. Head to my writing page to see some of my work.

Raised in the heart of the Hoosier state, I grew up constantly lip-syncing Britney Spears’ songs and hoping to one day move to Los Angeles to become a Disney Channel actress. My love for pop culture led me to write fake TV episodes of my favorite Disney shows like “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” for fun. I also pretended to host a talk show, which I named “The Alexa Show,” in our living room.

As I went through high school and college, my passion changed from creating & performing stories to telling the real stories of the world. But my underlying motivation to create stayed the same.

To me, journalism is all about conversation, from the interviewing process to the capturing of a photograph to the printing of a story. Each piece of media that I create stems from a conversation. My hope is to preserve these conversations, memories and personal stories in my work.

I love the creative process. I love a good conversation. And boy, do I love a good story.

So please, grab a cup of steaming hot tea, make yourself at home, put on some soothing tunes and take a look at the stories and media work featured here on my website. I hope I can inspire you in some way.
