How to Create a Study Abroad Capsule Wardrobe

Hey friends! If you’re getting ready to study abroad, you might want to consider paring your wardrobe down so that you aren’t stuck hauling a huge suitcase to the country you’ll be studying in. I’ve created a capsule wardrobe of about 35 items for my upcoming 3 months in Paris. Take a look at it below for some inspiration on what to pack and how to narrow down your semester abroad wardrobe. A Seasonal Playlist: Winter 2017

Photo by Barbara Defranoux Since coming to France, I have to admit I’ve been a little out of touch with the current hits playing on U.S. top 40 radio. I mean I just heard “Black Beatles” and learned what the Mannequin Challenge was around Christmas. All that to say, most of what I’ve been listening to during the autumnal and winter months are carefully curated into a Spotify playlist I’ve creatively titled “fall ’16/winter ’17.” On it, is a melange of the new Ed Sheeran tracks, some Chainsmokers, Bootstraps, Henri Salvador and random others. Currently on repeat: “Paris” by The Chainsmokers The Chainsmokers just dropped their newest single “Paris” on the 12th of January and I’m obsessed. Not only because I love the city of Paris, but it’s such a nostalgia-fueled tune and I’m a sucker for those. The lyric video defines “Paris” as “a sentimental yearning for a reality that isn’t genuine.” Essentially, in the context of the song, Paris is more of a state of mind than the actual city which is pretty clever …

Music Picks: May 2016

I finally saw Ellie Goulding this month and while I’m super stoked about it, she only played half of her set because of weather conditions. A little disappointed, but she’s all I’ve been listening to the past few days. I’ve also been listening to a lot of retro and retro-inspired music lately, like The 1975’s new album, some WALK THE MOON and some Hall & Oates for good measure. Here’s my May 2016 playlist:  “She’s American”- The 1975 “Shine”- Years & Years “Two Years Ago”- Ellie Goulding “Kiss It Better”- Rihanna “Aquaman”- WALK THE MOON “3 Strikes”- Terror Jr “Maneater”- Hall & Oates

Music Picks: April 2016

Spring is technically here, but the weather is still protesting. My music choices usually reflect the weather and change with the seasons. This April is a little different as it sometimes still feels like winter. So my music choices have been all over the place. I’ve been listening to a lot of Rihanna these days #SorryNotSorry. Here are the songs I’ve had on repeat this month: 1.”Ophelia”- The Lumineers 2. “Work”- Rihanna 3. “Same Sea (Acoustic)”- LIGHTS 4. “Needed Me”- Rihanna 5. “Roses”- Tanner Patrick (Cover) 6. “Seeing Stars (Live)”-BØRNS 7.”Paris”- The 1975 8. “Keeping Your Head Up (Don Diablo Remix)”- Birdy 9. “Never See The End”- Amanda Cook 10. “When We Were Young”- Jacob Whitesides (Cover)
