Since coming to France, I have to admit I’ve been a little out of touch with the current hits playing on U.S. top 40 radio. I mean I just heard “Black Beatles” and learned what the Mannequin Challenge was around Christmas. All that to say, most of what I’ve been listening to during the autumnal and winter months are carefully curated into a Spotify playlist I’ve creatively titled “fall ’16/winter ’17.” On it, is a melange of the new Ed Sheeran tracks, some Chainsmokers, Bootstraps, Henri Salvador and random others.
Currently on repeat: “Paris” by The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers just dropped their newest single “Paris” on the 12th of January and I’m obsessed. Not only because I love the city of Paris, but it’s such a nostalgia-fueled tune and I’m a sucker for those. The lyric video defines “Paris” as “a sentimental yearning for a reality that isn’t genuine.” Essentially, in the context of the song, Paris is more of a state of mind than the actual city which is pretty clever in my opinion.
